Welcome to Keuka Overlook Wine Cellars!
What we are:
The farm winery is family owned & operated by husband &
wife, Bob & Terry Barrett. Annual production is between 5,000 & 6,000
gallons of premium vinifera wines (Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot). We also produce a
smaller amount of French/American Hybrid wines (Baco, Chambourcin, Cayuga,
Vidal, and Rougeon). As a specialty item, we can treat you to limited
supplies of delicious fruit wines (Mulberry, Red Raspberry, Blackberry,
Cherry and Blueberry), some extremely limited selections of White Port, and some equally
limited selections of Late Harvest wines such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Vignoles and even Chardonnay.
Where we are:
Our winery is located on one of the highest hillsides in the
Finger Lakes on the East side of Keuka Lake, truly one of the most beautiful
& pristine of the Finger Lakes. From the winery deck, extraordinary
views take in the area near Penn Yan to the North and the area around
Hammondsport to the South. (See the map on the Directions page for
more exact details).
Who we are:
We used to live and work in Cleveland, Ohio at two corporate
jobs. I (Terry) was a senior R&D chemist at British Petroleum and
husband Bob was in Weights & Measures working for Toledo Scale. We met
at work and came to the Finger Lakes on our first date to visit the wineries
we had heard so much about!!! On our trip we fell in love with the
area and each other. We were married here in the Finger Lakes, not far
from where we are now in business. As home winemakers, we used to make
many pilgrimages to the Finger Lakes region to purchase grapes and juice,
which we would then haul back to Ohio to ferment into wine. We made
lots of wine - became very good at it - and enjoyed having friends and
family over for many food and wine pairings. It was while doing this
that we realized we wanted to do it on a much larger scale. We wanted
to share our products with lots of others. We bought an old Victorian
house, a huge old barn and 67 acres of land and spent all our vacation and
every weekend for the next 6 years, renovating the place. The house
became our Bed & Breakfast Inn, the old barn became the Winery, and the 67
acres surrounded the businesses with loveliness.
Now that you've met us, please come visit us,
sip some of our wines, stay overnight if you like, and have a truly unique &
unforgettable experience!
